After birth, baby gophers are called pups with litters living in nests comprised within gophers’ extensive tunnel networks.

Living for less than three years on average, pocket gophers are herbivores and rely on a diet of plant life and its roots, bulbs and leaves to survive. Plants are also their water source meaning there’s no need to emerge from their tunnels when searching for it.
